Conference on road pricing: privacy-friendly fraud detection and payment enforcement

The Department for Transport and Enterprise Privacy Group are pleased to announce a one-day conference to examine the potential privacy implications of fraud detection and payment enforcement in possible future road pricing schemes.

The complex issues of detection and enforcement are critical to building and maintaining trust in road pricing. But achieving this whilst safeguarding the privacy of road users is a considerable challenge.

The conference will examine the most appropriate strategies for privacy-protecting detection and enforcement within possible future road pricing schemes. A combination of presentations and facilitated debate will give delegates the opportunity to develop their own solutions to the problem, and hence inform the Department for Transport’s thinking in this area.

This event, which is open to Enterprise Privacy Group Members and the Department for Transport’s invited guests, will be held at the Institute of Directors, 116 Pall Mall, London on 17 September 2007. Places at the event are strictly limited, and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. It may also be necessary to limit seats to one per Member organisation.
