Roger Hartley Appointed as EPG Special Advisor

The Enterprise Privacy Group is delighted to announce the appointment of Roger Hartley as a Special Advisor to the Group.

Roger Hartley is an independent consultant. He worked as a civil servant for many years in the area of Information Rights, in the Home Office, Lord Chancellor's Department, The Department for Constitutional Affairs,and the Ministry of Justice. He was the Secretary of the National Security Panel of the Information Tribunal when it heard the appeal of Norman Baker MP, and was the lead negotiator for the UK in Brussels for the Data Protection Framework Decision during and after the UK Presidency (2005-06).

Roger subsequently lead a team in the Freedom of Information Central Clearing House, with responsibility for providing advice on sensitive requests for information made to Government Departments & where he also had responsibility for liaising with the Information Commissioner's Office. Roger was also involved in the early stages of the Government's Data Sharing programme. He has a long standing interest in privacy issues, and the robustness of Information Law in the rapidly evolving context of the Information Society.
